Starting April 10, Netflix is bringing a reimagined version of the hit internet show Pop the Balloon to the screen. Pop the Balloon LIVE is the same exciting show fans know and love, but now with higher stakes, fresh twists, and surprise celebrity appearances — all unfolding in real time.
If you’re just tuning in, Pop the Balloon is a speed dating-style online show created by Bolia Matundu (BM) and Arlette Amuli, who are also executive producers for the new Netflix version. In the show, participants line up, and people “pop the balloon” of those they’re not interested in, eliminating them from the dating pool. As the connections grow and tensions rise, one thing is clear: when your balloon pops, your shot at love is over. The live version will bring even more eliminations, surprising dilemmas, and raw, unfiltered romance straight to your screen.
But that’s not all! Alongside the regular contestants, some familiar reality TV faces will be joining in, including Johnny Bananas (The Challenge), Chase DeMoor (Too Hot To Handle), Farrah Abraham (Teen Mom), and Zaina Sesay (The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On). These celebs will dive into a whole new dating experience, raw and real, like nothing they’ve faced before.
“We’re beyond excited to bring Pop the Balloon to Netflix,” says executive producer Matt Sharp. “This new version takes the original concept to the next level, pushing the boundaries of connection, chemistry, and unpredictability.”
The show is also executive produced by Dan Adler and Bonnie Biggs for Sharp Entertainment, along with Ellen Rocamora.
“We’re so excited to see Pop the Balloon come to life on Netflix,” Matundu and Amuli tell Tudum. “From the very beginning, love and fun have been at the heart of the show. Watching it evolve and grow has been amazing, and as executive producers, we’re proud to be part of this next chapter. We can’t wait for both new and old fans to experience it!”
