Tyler Perry’s Duplicity Premieres on Prime Video with a Star-Studded Red Carpet Event
Tyler Perry’s Duplicity officially hit Amazon Prime, but before its big streaming debut, the cast and special guests celebrated with a glamorous premiere.
Perry and the film’s stars walked the red carpet outside the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. The event was packed with familiar faces, including Married to Real Estate star Egypt Sherrod, designer Brandon Blackwood, Bravo’s Nick Arrington, and talk show host Sherri Shepherd.
Tyler Lepley, who stars in the film alongside Kat Graham, made quite an entrance in a bold red tuxedo. Speaking with theGrio, he shared his excitement about what audiences will take away from the film.
“I think they’re gonna love the story,” Lepley said. “It’s got all the ingredients of a great thriller.”
But beyond the suspense, he believes Duplicity will spark important conversations.
“No matter what we go through, and no matter how desensitized we become from it always being shown, we ain’t never going nowhere,” he said. “Whether it’s police brutality or everything you’re about to see in this movie, our story always deserves to be heard.”
A Thriller with a Twist
Tyler Perry’s Duplicity follows Marley Wells (Kat Graham), a high-powered attorney investigating the fatal police shooting of her friend’s unarmed husband. But as she digs deeper, she realizes the truth is far more complicated than it seems.
Lepley teased that the story takes a major turn in the final act.
“When you see that flip, man, you gotta hold on to your britches,” he said.
The film, shot in just two weeks, also stars Meagan Tandy, RonReaco Lee, Joshua Adeyeye, Nick Barrotta, Jimi Stanton, and Shannon LaNier. With such a tight filming schedule, Lepley said everyone had to be “ready to go” every day on set.
Sherri Shepherd is Ready for the Thrills
Among the attendees was talk show host Sherri Shepherd, who couldn’t hide her excitement for Perry’s latest project.
“I do love thrillers,” she said. “As long as you’re not pulling nobody’s eyeball out. But the thrillers that make me think, the psychological thrillers? Yes, love them.”
Shepherd recalled the last thriller she watched was Perry’s Divorce in the Black, starring Meagan Good, and she’s eager to see how Duplicity stacks up.
She also made it clear she’s always happy to support Perry.
“I always love it when Tyler Perry calls me and asks me to show up,” she said. “He supports me all the time.”
And while she’s a fan of Perry, she also had plenty of love for the film’s leading men.
“I love Tyler, but I love them too,” she gushed.
With Duplicity now available on Amazon Prime, fans can finally see the twists and turns for themselves.
