After nearly 10 years, Duane Martin and Tisha Campbell’s bankruptcy case has finally come to a close. The ex-couple had over $16 million in debts discharged, with $1.7 million being paid out to creditors, according to court filings.
The final report from the bankruptcy trustee, filed on July 16, revealed that the sale of their home, business income, security deposits, and residuals helped them generate over $2 million. They also managed to clear most of their federal tax debt during the process, as reported by InTouch Weekly.
Martin and Campbell first filed for bankruptcy in January 2016, listing more than $15 million in liabilities and only $313,000 in assets. Their monthly expenses were reportedly more than double their income at the time.
Their debts included millions owed to the City of Los Angeles, hundreds of thousands to various lenders, and $1.4 million borrowed from actor Will Smith, a close friend of Martin’s. The trustee had some disagreements with the couple during the proceedings, but their debts were officially cleared later in 2016.
Martin and Campbell married in 1996 and have two sons, Ezekiel and Xen. After 20 years of marriage, Campbell filed for divorce in 2018, with the divorce finalized in 2020. Since then, both have moved on with their lives—Campbell continuing her acting career in TV and film.
