Preacher DeVon Franklin, 46, recently popped the question to his partner, personal trainer Maria Castillo, 29, during a romantic vacation in Hawaii. The surprise proposal took place at sunset on a cliff in Maui, marking the next chapter for the couple after a year of dating.
Franklin surprised Castillo during a photo shoot at The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua. The scene was perfect: they were both dressed in matching white outfits, sharing a sweet embrace with the ocean as their backdrop. To top it off, Franklin presented Castillo with a custom engagement ring designed by Carlotta Sarenas.
The couple, who met through Castillo’s business partner, trainer Mike Trusdal, has been together for a year and is excited to take their relationship to the next level. Franklin even introduced Castillo as “his girl” at the Merge Awards in November 2024.
Castillo couldn’t contain her excitement, saying, “I’m still in awe of how it all happened! It was such a beautiful surprise, and I can’t even put into words how happy I am!”
This will be Franklin’s second marriage—he was previously married to actress Meagan Good. The two finalized their divorce in June 2022 after nine years of marriage. Meanwhile, Good recently got engaged to actor Jonathan Majors.
