Apparently, when it comes to Adrien Brody, Halle Berry is all about “on sight!”
At the 97th Academy Awards on March 2, the 58-year-old actress, dazzling in a metallic silver Christian Siriano gown, couldn’t resist interrupting Brody’s interview on the red carpet to give him a little surprise— a passionate kiss!
Before going in for the kiss, Berry playfully turned to Brody’s longtime girlfriend, designer Georgina Chapman, saying, “I’m sorry, Georgina, but I have to do it.” Then, she grabbed Brody by the neck and planted one on him. The two shared a laugh as they pulled away, followed by a warm hug.
Later, Berry explained the unexpected public display of affection to Extra, saying she’d been waiting 21 years for this moment.
“Twenty-one years I’ve been waiting to get him on a red carpet and slap one on,” she joked. (Technically, it was 22 years ago, on March 23, 2003.)
Berry’s kiss was a playful payback for when Brody, accepting his first Academy Award in 2003 for The Pianist, famously kissed Berry after she presented him with the trophy. That moment went down as one of the most talked-about and unplanned incidents in Oscars history.
