In Minneapolis tonight, thousands of people have gathered to protest the events surrounding George Floyd’s death. As tensions continued to rise, St. Paul’s Mayor, Melvin Carter, called for Minnesota’s governor to enact the National Guard as fires broke out amid the protests.
Mayor Carter told CNN,
“We have requested the assistance of the National Guard, and so we expect that response to be forthcoming and we expect their assistance to be forthcoming.”
As the pressure continued to boil over, MSNBC reported on the ground as fires broke out throughout the city until the Minneapolis police precinct caught on fire just minutes ago.
