Man Accused of Hiding Missing Girlfriend’s Body Behind Newly Built Wall in His Home

Alexis Schuler, a 29-year-old mom from Capitol Heights, Maryland, was tragically found dead behind a wall in her boyfriend’s house after being reported missing. Devontae Gray, her 30-year-old boyfriend and father of one of her children, has been charged with her murder. Authorities say he hid her body in what they describe as a makeshift tomb.

Alexis was last seen in Washington on January 10, but she wasn’t reported missing until several days later, on the following Tuesday. Police allege that Gray killed her during an argument, then shot her, placed her body in a plastic storage bin, surrounded it with cinder blocks and concrete, and sealed it behind a wall he built in his home.

While Gray had previously told police that he feared for his safety around Alexis, her cousin, Derrick Felder, is adamant that Alexis was the real victim of domestic violence. “Alexis’ story is a painful reminder that this is not what love looks like. Someone who truly loves you would never do what Devontae Gray did to her. Please take domestic violence seriously,” he said in an emotional statement.

Gray has since been arrested, confessed to the crime, and now faces charges of first-degree murder and other related offenses.
