LSU basketball star Flau’Jae Johnson is stepping off the court for a bigger win—helping families break free from debt. Just days before the 2025 NCAA women’s basketball tournament kicks off, Johnson teamed up with Experian to wipe out $5 million in consumer debt for 5,000 families in Louisiana.
In a new ad, the rapper and athlete breaks it down: “You know what’s bigger than basketball? Financial empowerment. Finances can be tough, and Experian is stepping in to help the next generation chase their dreams. That’s why I’m so excited to announce they’re erasing $5 million in debt for families right here in Louisiana.”
And there’s even more on the table—Experian is pledging to clear an extra $100,000 in debt for every game LSU wins during the tournament, potentially adding up to $500,000 in relief.
“I love that Experian is giving families a fresh start,” Johnson adds. “This kind of financial freedom opens so many doors. That’s big.”
At just 20 years old, Johnson knows firsthand the power of building wealth. Last year, she made a major move, purchasing 20 acres of land in Atlanta—a step she calls “huge” as a young Black woman beating the odds.
Like Johnson, Experian is focused on creating real change, especially in Black communities. Their new debt relief program highlights the financial challenges many Black consumers in Louisiana face—half of Black adults worry about getting out of debt, 52% are working to rebuild credit, and Black homeownership remains a struggle, with one in four mortgage applications denied, according to a 2024 study.
With Johnson leading both on and off the court, this partnership is about more than basketball—it’s about rewriting the financial future for thousands of families.
