Sha’nya Bennett, a mother from Alabama, ended up giving birth to her son in a Krispy Kreme parking lot after a rare snowstorm made it impossible to get to the hospital.
Bennett and her partner, Keon Mitchell, were on their way to Flowers Hospital when Bennett’s contractions started. But the storm, which dumped five inches of snow in southern Alabama, made the roads icy and travel nearly impossible.
About a mile from the hospital, Bennett’s contractions worsened, and Mitchell decided to pull into a Krispy Kreme parking lot to call 911. But before the paramedics could get there, Bennett gave birth to their son, Dallas, right in the car.
“I felt like superwoman,” Bennett said, reflecting on the wild experience.
Though nervous, Mitchell helped deliver the baby. He admitted, “I really don’t know how I stayed calm because I was really scared.”
Thankfully, both Bennett and baby Dallas are doing well and recovering as they look forward to going home.
After hearing the story, the Krispy Kreme manager showed some love to the family by offering them free donuts for a year and even promised to host Dallas’ first birthday party in 2026. What a sweet gesture!
