Former president Barack Obama has a problem with the way Donald Trump has handled the Coronavirus outbreak and he isn’t waiting until everything is under control to show his criticism. In Obama’s words, the White House’s response has been absolutely chaotic.
This was part of a 30 minute call for Obama Alumni Association, in which the former president said the response to the coronavirus outbreak served as a critical reminder for why strong government leadership is needed during a global crisis.
The point of the call was to try to persuade and encourage support for Joe Biden’s presidential campaign. In Obama’s words, “This election that’s coming up — on every level — is so important because what we’re going to be battling is not just a particular individual or a political party,” Obama said. “What we’re fighting against is these long-term trends in which being selfish, being tribal, being divided, and seeing others as an enemy — that has become a stronger impulse in American life.”
Obama however, stops at criticism without recommending any specific measures he would use to help black communities that are suffering from the outbreak.
