Cybertruck Explosion Linked to Active-Duty U.S. Army Man

A Tesla Cybertruck explosion outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas has been linked to Matthew Alan Livelsberger, an active-duty U.S. Army Green Beret. Livelsberger, a senior enlisted operations master sergeant with the 10th Special Forces Group, was on leave from active duty in Germany at the time of the incident, according to officials.

Las Vegas Sheriff Kevin McMahill stated that Livelsberger shot himself in the head before the explosion, which injured seven people. Although authorities have not confirmed the identity of the body inside the vehicle due to severe burns, they believe it to be Livelsberger based on matching tattoos identified by his wife.

DNA or medical records are pending to verify the identity officially. The investigation continues as officials piece together details surrounding the incident.

How the incident began

The Cybertruck was rented on December 28 in Denver and made stops at several Tesla charging stations in Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Nevada, before entering Las Vegas in the early morning of New Year’s Day, McMahill said.

The truck was first spotted in the city at 7:29 a.m., drove up and down Las Vegas Boulevard and later arrived at the Trump Hotel, where a combination of fireworks, gas tanks and camping fuel in the bed of the vehicle were detonated by a device controlled by the driver, police said.
