The first-ever surviving set of African American sextuplets in the country have once again made international headlines following their recent graduation from high school together, with all six gearing up to continue their education in the fall.

Chris and Diamond Harris from Birmingham, Alabama welcomed their six babies in 2002, with Diamond delivering via C-section at 26.5 weeks. 18 years later, the odds-defying children are all grown up and officially high school graduates, an achievement they celebrated together last week. Chris and Diamond Harris decided to use fertility drugs to get pregnant. They did not initially expect to get pregnant since they had been struggling to conceive for more than two years, not long after they began using the fertility drugs, they were surprised to learn that Diamond was pregnant with twins. A sonogram eventually showed they were having five children. However, she gave birth to sextuplets which became the first surviving set of Black sextuplets.
The Sextuplets with two girls “Kaylynne and Kiera” and four boys, “Kaleb, Kobe, Kieran, and Kyle”, just recently graduated from Center Point High School in Birmingham. A now-viral photo shows them in their complete graduation gowns and caps.
The six children will turn 18 in July before continuing their education, Kiera and Kobe will attend Lawson State Community College, with Kiera studying cosmetology. Kaleb and Kieran will attend Alabama A&M, with Kaleb majoring in computer science and Kieran pursuing Art. Kaylynne will go to Alabama State University for its physical therapy program, and Kyle who has autism will do a life skills program at Center Point High School.
In April 2007, they appeared on The Oprah Show after becoming a national sensation. Now, they are making headlines again as they set out to take on the world as college students.
